Vendredi 30.07.2027
Leeds – Birkenshaw – Manchester
The Tour de France is coming. We’ve tidied up a bit.
Counting down to 12:00 noon BST on race day. The official time the race reaches Birkenshaw is yet to be confirmed.
Allez, Birkenshaw! The Tour is here. Get to the kerb.
No 01 En route
The world’s greatest cycling race is coming through our little corner of Yorkshire, and Birkenshaw deserves a proper welcome. This site is being built, lovingly and slightly nervously, to celebrate the moment the peloton rolls through the village.
Here’s what’s on its way before the big day.
01
An interactive guide to the race’s journey through Birkenshaw, with local landmarks, the best spots to stand, and practical spectator information.
02
A slightly irreverent introduction to the village: its history, its landmarks, its local businesses, and why it’s been ready for this all along.
03
What’s happening in the run-up to race day: community events, school projects, window displays and an alarming quantity of yellow bunting.
No 02 Tous ensemble
Le Tour de Birkenshaw belongs to the village. As the site grows, local schools, businesses, residents and community organisations will all be warmly invited to take part, to share their stories, show their colours and help give the world’s cyclists a proper Yorkshire welcome.
Pupils, teachers and parents, not least those whose school gates sit right on the route. Art projects, history lessons and the loudest cheering section in the county.
Shops, pubs, cafés, trades and everyone in between. Window displays, yellow bunting, and possibly a croissant or two.
Every front garden is a grandstand. Your memories, your photographs, your bicycle painted yellow and propped against the wall.
Churches, clubs, scouts and guides, cycling groups and societies: the people who make Birkenshaw, Birkenshaw.
